The system extension, QuickTime™, announced by Apple Computer, uses JPEG (Joint Photographic Expert Group). JPEG is both the group name for the committee responsible for creating the international standard of coding for color still pictures, and for the standard itself.Apple has accepted JPEG as one of the standards for coding, transfer, and storage of high quality digital picture data in Quicktime.
